In Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, I construct a landscape from sites of demolition, abandonment, and storm damage across North Texas. At a distance, the image appears expansive and luminous, but as the viewer moves closer, subtle disruptions begin to surface. Symmetry destabilizes the logic of space, and what initially reads as human presence gradually reveals itself to be mannequins—stand-ins within systems built on repetition, display, and consumption.

I’m interested in how images can delay recognition and shift perception over time. This work asks the viewer to slow down and question what feels stable or familiar. The longer one looks, the more the image resists a single reading, hovering between documentation and construction.

The piece reflects on a kind of post-consumer landscape, where cycles of extraction, production, and disposal have already run their course. Even in collapse, the logic of consumerism persists—no longer functional, but still present as a kind of echo or residue. The mannequins become markers of that persistence, occupying a space between human absence and artificial continuity.

The title speaks to this inertia: a system that continues forward, even after its purpose has eroded. What appears luminous at first glance carries a quieter tension beneath it, where collapse and continuation exist at the same time.
